About Dr. G
Board-certified psychiatrist. Published author. Evidence over dogma.

Dr. Garrett Rossi, MD, FAPA
Board-Certified Psychiatrist · Author
I create bold, evidence-based psychiatry content that challenges hype, sharpens clinical thinking, and brings real-world mental health practice to the forefront. That’s the mission behind Shrinks in Sneakers.
I’m a board-certified adult psychiatrist and Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association. I completed my psychiatry residency at Cooper University Hospital, where I was awarded the resident travel scholarship for scholarly activity. My clinical work is rooted in inpatient and consultation-liaison psychiatry — the front lines where acuity is high, decisions are fast, and the gap between textbook psychiatry and real-world practice is widest.
My writing has been published in Psychiatric Times, The Carlat Psychiatry Report, Current Psychiatry, Cureus, KevinMD, and peer-reviewed journals. I’ve presented at national conferences and contribute regular clinical commentary to some of the field’s most widely read publications. I’m also the author of the forthcoming memoir No Evidence of Competence: Learning Disability, Shame, and Becoming a Psychiatrist.
My areas of clinical and research interest include addiction medicine, psychopharmacology, lifestyle medicine, autism spectrum disorder, paraphilic disorders, and the intersection of psychiatry and culture. I believe that psychiatry needs more voices willing to say what clinicians are thinking — backed by data, not dogma.
